Renji's Daily Predictions: CS Training Camp Week 3
Written by David "Renji^" Strausser, Feature Writer of the Carolina Core
We've now completed Dead or Alive: 4, as well as FIFA '08 for Week 3 of the CGS Training Camp. Last night's FIFA matches proved to be very close, especially the shootout between Carolina Core and Chicago Chimera. But, that's enough about FIFA, tonight marks the third set of the Counter-Strike:Source matches that we've all been waiting for.
*** These predictions are assuming each franchise will play their starting line-up, which is likely not the case ***
Carolina Core vs Chicago Chimera
Counter-Strike:Source
Last week, Carolina Core's CS:S team suffered a 7-11 defeat at the hands of LA CompLexity on De_Tuscan. The match was an extremely close one, going back and forth between the two teams, but LA quickly adapted to Core's aggressive game play, and caused Core to go into some eco rounds in which they were unable to recover, and as a result cost them the match.
Chicago Chimera is also heading into this match-up with a defeat in the CS:S division last week. Chimera was set head to head with the new roster of New York 3D, in which after several back and forth rounds, we found the teams in the middle of CGS's new overtime rule. Chimera was placed on CT side, but they were simply unprepared to handle 3D's banana rush, thus ending the match 10-9 in favor of 3D.
Both teams will be going into this match-up hoping to remove any doubt their fans may have had on their CS playing skills, and will be giving it 110%. While Chicago Chimera's roster has held up their standards so far, Carolina Core's determination going into this match-up should prove to tip the scales in their favor, and remove any and all doubts of Core's upcoming season.
Carolina Core 12 > 6 Chicago Chimera
Los Angeles CompLexity vs San Francisco Optx
Counter-Strike: Source
This match-up should prove to be a very interesting one indeed. Both of the teams going into this match-up seem to be this season's "favorites" so far, and this could be the deciding factor of where the fanboy scales will be tipped. Both teams have a long history winning, as well as a long history of upsets.
Last CGS season, compLexity finished with an amazing 10-2 record in the CS:Source division, however, their performance in the most recent CEVO season was less than up to par with their standards. Some argue their CEVO scores were the result of Marcus "zet" Sundstrom playing from Sweden with a ridiculous ping, but that is no longer an issue.
With CompLexity's 5th back in the United States, their line-up should definitely prove to be stronger, but at this point, I don't believe they have what it takes to shut down Optx tonight.
Note: This prediction is assuming that Mohamed "moE" Assad will be competing in tonight's match-up. There has been some speculation that Griff would be sitting in for him tonight.
San Francisco Optx11 > 7 LA CompLexity
New York 3D vs Dallas Venom
Counter-Strike:Source
I know I've said it plenty of times, but I mean it when I say it, this match-up will definately be one to watch. With Team3D veteran Josh "Dominator-" Sievers, as well as 3 new faces to the CGS competing for Venom going head to head with 3D's newly formed roster, the GMs will get to see who made the better decisions in the restructuring of their teams.
I really feel that this match could go either way. But, with 3D's overtime victory against Chimera, as well as Venom's loss to Optx last week, I am going to have to go with the stats, and place 3D New York on top tonight.
New York 3D 10 > 8 Dallas Venom
