Renji's Daily Predictions: CS:S Training Camp Week 4

Posted by: Renji^

Written by David "Renji^" Strausser, Feature Writer of the Carolina Core

Now that we've completed Dead or Alive: 4, as well as FIFA '08 for Week 4 of the CGS Training Camp, it's time that we turn our attention my game of choice, Counter-Strike: Source. Tonight's CS match-ups should prove to be very interesting, especially the match betwen San Francisco Optx and Chicago Chimera, with former Chimera strat caller Grt playing for the opposing team. Be sure to catch all the action tonight on SourceTV.

*** These predictions are assuming each franchise will play their starting line-up, which is likely not the case ***

Carolina Core vs New York 3D

Counter-Strike:Source

Carolina Core really needs to get their act together if they plan on winning this match. But with that being said, I take a look at their current CEVO scores, and find them sitting at 4- 0, which makes me wonder if they are "Sandbagging", or if the competition in CEVO this season is just terrible. For those of you that aren't aware, the only two CGS teams participating in CEVO this season are Carolina Core and Dallas Venom, both of which are currently undefeated.

3D on the other hand is going into this match with 2 victories from very close matches, and the 4 - 10 defeat they suffered at the hands of Los Angeles CompLexity. There is no doubt that Moto's CS:S picks have been an improvement over last seasons, but they're going to need to increase the gap in the scores of their victories if they hope to make an impact on the team's overall score.

At this point, I can honestly say that I believe sandbagging has been an issue, and tonight is no better than any other to turn things around for the Carolina Core, and show everyone exactly what they're made of.

Los Angeles CompLexity vs Dallas Venom

Counter-Strike: Source

At this point in the game, I'd say these two teams are fairly evenly matched. There honestly isn't much more I can say about this match-up, other than both teams are really going to have their work cut out for them, and are going to have to step it up if they hope to take home the W. In the end, I can picture this match going back and forth during the first half, but I believe Venom will step it up in the second half, and bring home the victory.

San Francisco Optx 3D vs Chicago Chimera

Counter-Strike:Source

I can honestly say that this is going to be the match of the week. With former Chimera all-star and strat caller Grt now playing for the Optx, Chimera is going to have to step it up to show that their replacement for Grt was a wise choice. Although, Chimera GM Brian Flander didn't have much of a choice when Optx GM Kat Hunter grabbed Grt out of the pool before Flander had a chance to protect his team.

While both teams are home to a lot skill, the amount of momentum that Optx has built thus far is enough to keep them on a roll for a ways to come, and I don't foresee any teams stopping them any time soon.
