CSS Map Overview: De_Tuscan
Written by David Strausser, CSS Feature Writer
De_Tuscan is one of the two new maps which were added to the CGS map lineup this season. The map itself is an adaptation from the CPL map Mill, and was created for the use in the CEVO leagues during the 1.6 days. Since then, the map has made it's tranisition to CS Source, and is now an official map of the CGS.
The map itself is very strategic, and has many connectors between each of the bombsites. Most often, the Counter-Terrorists choose to defend this map in a 2-1-1-1 setup, or 2 A, 1 Mid, 1 Alternate Mid, and 1 B. Some may even consider this a 2-1-2 setup considering the how closely knit Alt Mid is with the B bombsite.
A Bombsite
Bombsite A is a clustered mess of boxes, doorways, and more connectors than you can shake a stick at. In total, there are 5 ways to enter into this Bombsite. The entrance into the bombsite which often recieves the most action is Catwalk. Catwalk is usually littered with smoke grenades, flashbangs, and then eventually bodies. The catwalk itself connects SA1 or Storage Area 1, dirrectly with the A bombsite. Another important entrance to remember is the sewers, or "tunnels". The sewers can be entered through SA1, and connect directly to the middle of the A bombsite via a large door. If the CT's are not careful of the terrorists who choose to go tunnels, they may find themselves in big trouble. The final main entrance into A is middle. Middle connects SA1 with SA2, and leads right up into the A bombsite. This area of the map is often occupied by an AWPer, and much like Catwalk, is often full of smoke grenades on a Terrorist rush.
The other 2 entrances into A, are used much less than the aforementioned ones, but these remaining two can be the most dangerous. These two are; window room, and for simplicity reasons, "back halls." These two connectors can be used as flanks by the Terrorists to deal some heavy damaged for the unsuspecting CTs in the A bombsite, and can be they key point to winning the round.
Alternate Mid
Alternate Middle, or "Alt Mid" contains a window room, a bridge connecting the site, and enough boxes to ship anything you could imagine. This spot, as mentioned above, is often occupied by 1 counter-terrorist, which is usually placed in or around the window room. If this CT goes down, or happens to miss one of the terrorists that gets passed, the CTs in bombsite A could really find themselves in deep crap should the terrorists use this opportunity to flank.
From Alt Mid, the terrorists pretty much have free reign as to where they wish to go on the map. They can enter Bombsite B from 3 different locations, or Bombsite A from an additional 2. This may be another portion of the map to recieve some heavy action.
B Bombsite
Bombsite B is very small. Once inside the site, there is very little to no free space to move around in. The bomsbite itself is divided into two portions, upper and lower, although upper is pretty much just a catwalk which connects to the bridge in Alt Mid. The bombsite itself has 4 entrances, and these include;Banana, which is given its name from the shape the road makes, and leads directly from SA2 to the B bombsite. Alt Mid Connector, which as the name suggest, connects the B bombsite with Alternate Mid. Back halls, which connects the back hallway of the map to alt mid, CT spawn, and the B bombsite, and lastly Upper B, which mentioned above connects the Alt Mid bridge to the B bomsbite.
Should the terrorists choose to take this bombsite, this is one of the hardest bombsites for a CT team to retake, simply due to the fact of how fast a Terrorist can rotate out of the bombsite, and re-enter through any other of the entrances. With that being said, it is very important that the CTs do their best to keep this bombsite on lockdown.
