Anomaly Wins CoD 4 CEVO-P

The Carolina Core’s very own FIFA 08 player, Andrew “anomaly” Brock won the Call of Duty 4 CEVO-Professional title last weekend as a fill-in player for the Evil Geniuses. Shortly before the playoffs, Team EG decided to cut their fifth player in favor of a new player, but this left them in a sticky situation. In CEVO, your rosters are locked before the playoffs begin and you are unable to make any changes. Fortunately for EG, they had Anomaly on their roster as the sixth and emergency player. Brock is a long time teammate of a few of the players on EG and played on the original Team 3D Call of Duty 1 team with Wombat, NTT and Wiseguy, all starters for EG.

EG’s run started off rocky in the playoffs when they were easily defeated by the Guardians in the first round of play. In the lower bracket of the double-elimination tournament, they started to heat up. They were able to defeat both MoB Gaming and Frag Dominant to setup a rematch with the Guardians after they were sent to the lower bracket by Pandemic. In the rematch, EG managed to somehow win in overtime. This setup a Grand Finals match against the heavily favored Team Pandemic, who was obviously playing with their full lineup. In the finals, Andrew looked like he was a season CoD 4 pro and EG was able to shock the community and upset Pandemic. The FIFA player of the Core had effectively gotten his Cod4 level of play high enough to not only prevent him from holding back EG, but he also had some key frags to win the championship.
